In September 2011 over 6 days, forty-four riders cycled from Toronto to Montreal, raising net revenue of more than $70,000. The group enjoyed their days cycling followed by once-in-a-lifetime experiences that included dining at Officers’ Messes at military bases across Ontario, Navy search and rescue exercises in RHIB inflatable boats, simulated hands-on weapons firing drills and more.
Joe Gagnon, of Westmount Moving and Storage, invited staff members to join him for the ride, even giving employees who wanted to participate the week off work. To meet the fundraising requirements, the group held a corporate golf tournament, raising $30,000 to cover everyone’s pledges.
