“Through the generous support of Canada Company, the Honour Country Sacrifice project was able to travel to Halifax in February to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Gulf War and document the stories of Canadian Gulf War veterans. This funding enabled the creation of more than 30 new portraits, expanding the project’s archive to over 200 veterans and active service members from across Canada.
The impact extends far beyond the photographs and oral stories. By providing veterans with a platform to share their experiences and be recognized for their service, the project fosters connection, reflection, and pride within the veteran community. These portraits preserve an important chapter of Canadian military history while ensuring that the sacrifices and contributions of Gulf War veterans are seen, remembered, and honoured by future generations.”
