Dear friends,
Happy Spring! As the weather begins to warm up, I hope you are doing well!
In the past few months, Canada Company has been engaging with our different initiatives, such as creating new educational content through our Military History Learning Programs, planning new programs and events like Canadian Rangers Scholarships and the Scholarship Alumni Association, and providing support wherever possible.
We also recently released a new website. It features all new pages, including an extensive photo gallery. Filter your selection by initiative and see if you’re able to find yourself in any of the pictures!
We have much in store for this year, with initiatives and events across Canada that focus on championing education, raising awareness, and prioritizing wellbeing.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to Canada Company’s mission!
Education
Military History Learning Programs

Honouring Bravery, our Ontario Military History Learning Program, has had an eventful first quarter. They started the year by taking part in the Ontario Library Association Conference on January 28th and 29th. Thousands of people attended the two-day conference in Toronto, allowing us to create many wonderful connections!
Honouring Bravery has also been busy adapting military history content for Ontario audiences. This includes blog posts and a virtual exhibit about Canadian nurses. They Cared: The Origins of Military Nursing in Canada, explores the experiences of military nurses during WWI and examines the ways that women’s roles changed because of their participation in the war. The exhibit is now available online. Additionally, their traveling exhibit, When Daylight Comes: The Canadians on D-Day, is now available for school bookings! For reservations, click here.

Je Me Souviens, Quebec’s Military History Learning Program, has been bringing educational materials to schools in Quebec. During Je Me Souviens’ visits, students have the opportunity to walk around and view different educational panels, which can be seen in the picture to the right. They can also try on WWI uniform replicas. For reservations, click here.
Je Me Souviens is also coming out with extra content, including blog posts and three pedagogical activities! These activities will help students learn about an early chapter of Canada’s military history: the 1775 American invasion and siege of Fort Saint-Jean, Quebec. Developed collaboratively with the Fort Saint-Jean Museum, the activities include an interactive game that allows students to reenact the siege and understand its importance in Quebec’s history. The activities are coming soon and can be used either in-class or directly at the Fort Saint-Jean Museum in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC!
NEW: Canada Company Alumni Association

One of our new initiatives is our Canada Company Alumni Association, created for past recipients of our Children of the Fallen Scholarship. The 2025 launch of the Alumni Association is made possible by the generous support of Commissionaires as part of their Centennial celebrations – a century of service to Canada.
NEW: Canadian Rangers and Aspiring Rangers Scholarship Program

Another new initiative is the creation of a Canadian Rangers and Aspiring Rangers Scholarship Program, in partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces Canadian Rangers Leadership Team. The program will provide educational scholarship opportunities of up to $5,000 a year to current Canadian Rangers (CR), as well as Junior Canadian Rangers who have aged out of the program and are waiting for a position with the CR.
Awareness
CAF Speaker Series

There is exciting news regarding our Speaker Series program. After a successful run in 2024, Accenture will be rejoining us as our partner for the 2025 Speaker Series events! Year two of the program will feature five events across Canada. The 2025 series will start on May 22nd with Lieutenant-General Wright in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Cold Weather Operator Leader Course at CFB Shilo

In January the Cold Weather Operator Leader Course took place at CFB Shilo in Manitoba. Canada Company was in attendance, along with observers from Sweden – NATO’s newest member. We were able to witness some amazing training, including trainees plunging into freezing cold water! View photos from the event here.
Wellbeing
Junior Canadian Rangers Support

Malyck Travers is a member of the Junior Canadian Rangers and following an accident, he underwent spinal fusion surgery. Between travel and accommodation for his appointments, followed by physical therapy and remote learning while he is healing, the cost adds up quickly. Through our Junior Canadian Rangers Support program, we are glad to have been able to provide some support to Malyck and his family during this difficult time. We wish Malyck a speedy recovery and all the best moving forward!
