Community Description:
The City of Quinte West is situated on the Bay of Quinte and the Trent Severn Waterway approximately 1.5 hours east of Toronto along the 401 corridor and 2.5 hours southwest of Ottawa. The city is extremely proud of its military heritage being the home of Canada’s largest military air force base, 8 Wing/CFB Trenton. The city enjoys a great relationship with the CFB Trenton and is home of many military families. Bain Park is also home to the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial and is adjacent to both 8 Wing/CFB Trenton and the start of the sacred Highway of Heroes route last traveled by the Fallen. The park is open year round, is wheelchair accessible and is the gathering place for annual commemorative ceremonies. The LAV III Monument is a fitting tribute to the 40,000 Canadian soldiers who served in Afghanistan.
